Here are some quick tips to be aware of:
- Be educated and research the essential oils you are using and use them responsibly and as instructed.
- When handling essential oils, do not touch your eyes or mouth and wash your hands well handling. The potency of certain oils could cause a reaction to these sensitive areas. If you do get them in your eyes, use a carrier oil to dilute them.
- Until you find the right combination of essential oils to carrier oil be sure to start low and slow and dilute heavily until you find the best usage for you.
- Always, always dilute essential oils with a carrier oil for children. And also when using hot essential oils.
- Citrus essential oils are photosensitive, do not use them in sunlight. Also, you MUST use glass containers when using citrus oils as they will react to and eat plastic. Dark glass containers are recommended, as the sunlight can decrease their potency.
- Take care of your essential oils and store them properly and as instructed.
- Use distilled water whenever water is an ingredient. Tap water contains bacteria and mold will shorted the life of the products you make.
