Essential Oils: Help! What carrier oils should I use??

Are you just learning about essential oils and keep reading the word carrier oil? Or are you trying to figure which carrier oils are what? If you are new to the amazing world of essential oils (welcome!), carrier oils are the base oil that helps dilute essential oils before you use or apply them so they aren't so potent. They help safely "carry" the oil, however you use them.

Ok, so which is which?? I've made a list below of the ones I started with. These carrier oils are really my go-to's, I'll add to it if I try others but really there is no need to complicate things! This selection really covers the basics for getting started without getting overwhelmed.

I've included a general price guide to for each oil too. Read list below:

Non-greasy, spreads easily and great for nourishing skin. Great for all skin types and especially dry or irritated skin.

Light in texture, high absorbency and excellent for dehydrated, sensitive, delicate, mature skin and good for a facial massage.

Avocado Oil // {buy me} $$ or check Costco
Heavy, rich oil for dry and aging skin. Contains vitamins A, D, and E. Regenerates and softens skin. Good for message in relieving dryness or itchiness of eczema and also for treating sun damaged that is dry and undernourished.

Virgin Coconut Oil // {buy me} $$ or check Costco
A very versatile carrier oil when it comes to skin, hair and consumption and is possibly one you have on hand. This oil has a lot of health benefits as well.

Fractioned Coconut Oil // {buy me} $$
Feather light oil that absorbs to skin without clogging pores. The fractioned version stays as a liquid, love this one.

Grapeseed Oil // {buy me} $
Non-greasy, light texture, goes on smooth and absorbs quickly. Has a mild astringent quality that helps to tighten and tone skin. Useful for acne and other skin issues.

Jojoba Oil // {buy me} $$$ or check your local Trader Joe's
Great for all skin types, even oily, acne prone skin. Serves as an excellent moisturizer and when messaged it acts as an agent to unclog pores and remove dirt.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil // {buy me} $$$ or check your local Trader Joe's or use your favorite!
Yes, the oil you cook with and probably the most common carrier oil you have on hand. Non-greasy and good for most skin types as it does not clog pores. Goes on thick and is not the most absorbent. Great for those who have nut and seed allergies. I use this carrier oil for recipes that I apply to my feet.

Sesame Seed Oil // {buy me} $
Thick oil good for good for moisturizing and soothing and great on mature skin. Great for eczema and contains SPF 4 but should not be used solely for that.

Which carrier oil is your go-to favorite?

xx, ej
